LESSONS
All students begin with one-on-one balance seat lessons with Buffy (in other words, in balance with the horse, feeling their center of gravity and riding accordingly with it). Once you have achieved proficiency at this level, you will be able to choose which seat you would like to pursue, whether it be hunt seat, saddle seat, or western. As you progress and feel more confident, you may decide which direction you want show, trail ride, drive, or any combination of these. If desired, you may join group lessons, where you will learn to navigate the horse around other horses; this is where students also learn horse behavior in the company of others. You will also learn about horsemanship and sportsmanship, showmanship, and you will be encouraged to join horse clubs. You will learn about horse care and feeding, why a horse thinks like he does, good conformation versus bad conformation (and why), and what the effects of conformation are to the horse. You will make new contacts and friends in the horse world, and you can enjoy just being around the horses.
The Lesson Program is designed so that students will also learn:
| Riding Skills
Horse Anatomy and Conformation
General Horse Care and Management
Equine First Aid
Recognition of the needs of each individual animal |
